Orchids and Reflections

Orchids on the path into the lake.

Orchids on the path into the lake.

There were orchids on the path into Horseshoe Lake in Jasper National Park that I posted about last week. They stood about 8″ tall and I have no idea what species they are. But orchids are wonderful wherever or whatever they are. Right?

I loved the reflections in the lake water, both when shooting them, and later, while processing them in Lightroom.

  1. They are beautiful. What time of year was this?

  2. Fantastic reflections, like a painting!

It was strange. There were colours in the water that weren’t in the land being reflected.I guess it was the turquoise tinted water that does it.

We have smaller versions of these orchids that come out in April. Such pretty shots!

You live on the west coast, right? So it is reasonable that you would have orchids in April and the Rockies in May. We have Lady Slipper orchids on PEI in May but amazingly, I have never see one. I now know where to look for some as a result of a hike taken this fall.

Thank you Julie. Reflections aren’t often that tempting. I think part of why they worked it was we were quite a few feet directly above the water.
