Machu Picchu, 2009

I haven’t included many photos from my 2009 trip to Peru in this blog – until today.
The choice of photogenic walls in my collection is huge: the Great Wall of China, graffiti on walls in San Francisco and Toronto, stone walls throughout Peru, sleepy garden walls in England, or highly decorated temple walls in Thailand. Too many walls, too few blog posts.  So here are a couple of examples of the amazing stone work that is Machu Picchu, Peru, a Unesco world heritage site

There are lots more walls by others you might want to check out.

It’s hard to get a good shot of Machu Picchu…what with the weather. But these are great

We arrived by bus from Aguas Calientes in fog, climbed to the sun gate, waited for the fog to clear a bit, and walked back down to the main site. By noon it was so hot we were seeking shade. I’ve brightened some of these photos, but not overly, and I have some other great shots which I will get to posting some day.

  6. How impressive it must have been to stand there.. and how much you have travelled!!
I also love the background of your blog, are these mosses and plants?

Much of our travel (but not China) has been the result of the travels of my children and step-children. I have visited my son in Mali (before digital – BT) and Thailand (and Japan on the way to Thailand) and England, and where he now lives near New York City; my daughter to France, Belgium and Luxembourg (BT); one stepdaughter to Costa Rica (BT) and Peru and Toronto where she now lives, and another step daughter to San Francisco. The background to my blog is the side of a hill at Pacifica, south of San Francisco, which I posted here: https://buntymcc.wordpress.com/2014/03/25/san-francisco-pacifica/

  9. Closed my eyes for the pics, I’ll be there in less than 2 weeks!
