Goldfinch in Blizzard

Note the snowflakes blizzzarding around behind the bird. We have a flock of about 35 of these at the feeders on a good day. I think all the females, who are khaki rather than yellow in the winter, were in hiding during the storm.

The one with its back to the camera may be a female:

With no electricity that day, the birds were a lovely diversion. Thanks.

  3. Very handsome in their winter suits. And loving that bird feeder 🙂

Your photographic capture of the goldfinches are darling! I saw your blue jays and made me realize that I haven’t seen these birds for a long time, here out in Calgary. I saw blue jays often when living in Ontario.

We see the magpie birds instead here in Alberta.
