I’m delighted to report that Plays in a Day in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island on November 8, 2014, was a tremendous success and a great achievement.
Eight playwrights wrote six 6-16 minute plays between 7 pm Friday and 7 am Saturday; two plays were written by teams; one of the teams was two time zones away.
Six directors (3 of them novices) worked through the day with 18 actors, some of them novices, in six different rehearsal venues.
Three stage managers managed two short plays each and guided 20 minute technical rehearsals before supper.
I was the producer, on behalf of ACT (a community theatre)
At the end of the show almost everyone gathered for a photo. The picture’s not great as there was no time to test the lighting, and was shot, hand held with a Sony RX100III.
Hurray for community theatre.
