It’s was a bad winter for cycling in Toronto.  There was an ice storm in late December and when I visited in early March some streets were still hazardous.  As a result, there seemed to be an unusually large number of abandoned bikes.  Almost every photo here was taken on College Street in, or just east of, Little Italy on a bitterly cold March 1, 2014.

When the snow melts, all the cigarette butts and garbage, as well as the bikes, are revealed.

One of these bikes is in use. Hard to tell about the other. Since bike theft is rampant in Toronto, some people ride rather ratty bikes so they won't get stolen.
